Midwives
"Midwife" means "with woman" and our midwives are just that, working with women to achieve wonderful, empowering births.
Our midwives work in very small, tightly-integrated teams to provide your care, a concept we call Team Midwifery. You'll get to know them just as you would a small circle of friends. There are many advantages of Team Midwifery over single-midwife care, but the most important is that through it, we can provide you with exceptionally warm and personal care while bringing many resources you would not have with a single midwife.
All BetterBirthLLC midwives are nationally certified (Certified Professional Midwives) and licensed by the State of Utah.
Midwives
Trinette Thompson, CPM LDEM
Trinette received her midwifery training and graduated from Midwives College of Utah. She remains active in special projects for the college and is continuing to pursue an advanced degree. Trinette is an extraordinarily compassionate and attentive midwife. She lives in Saratoga Springs with her husband and six children, all homeborn.
Suzanne Smith, CPM LDEM
Suzanne holds Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Midwifery from the Midwives College of Utah, a Bachelor's degree in Human Biology from Stanford University, and was the first licensed direct-entry midwife in Utah. She founded BetterBirthLLC in 1994, and lives in Orem with her husband and two children. Suzanne habla español.

In addition to our staff midwives, these midwives also supervise our student midwives:
Cathy O'Bryant, CPM LDEM
Cathy has been a midwife for more than 25 years, and has the lowest c-section rate of any midwife we know.
Holly Richardson, CPM LDEM
Holly is both a direct-entry midwife and a registered nurse. She has been practicing midwifery since 2000 and has extensive home, hospital, and birth center experience, as well as many years experience as a doula and childbirth educator. She has special expertise in adoption, and grief and loss.
Jeanetta Booth, CPM LDEM
Jeanetta received her training at Casa de Nacimiento in El Paso, TX where she rose through the ranks from student to Senior Midwife. Jeanetta speaks Spanish, and has outstanding skills and a very gentle manner. She lives in Salt Lake City.
Adrienne Trahnstrom, CPM
Adrienne will be joining our practice in October, 2010. She was trained at Maternidad La Luz and Casa de Nacimiento, both in El Paso, TX, and in 2004 began her independent midwifery practice in Vermont. She specializes in teamwork in the healthcare professions. She, her husband, and two home-born sons will live in Wallsburg.
